Educators need to create an environment where the students are able to point
out the true lighthouses that will guide them to success in their lives. The Archdiocesan Youth
Education Services (AYES) invites every Catholic Educative Institution in the
Archdiocese to join hands in promoting lasting Principles.
Academic
Excellence devoid of Principles is no excellence at all. Mahatma
Gandhi said it so well, The Roots of
Violence are Wealth without work, Pleasure without conscience, Knowledge
without character, Commerce without morality, Science without humanity, Worship
without sacrifice, Politics without principles” Violence takes up many
forms and the above are clearly visible in our country and all over the world.
It is hoped
that AYES will be able to motivate schools to become more ‘Living Value
Environments’ in which Values are the content and process through which
education takes place.
Martin Luther summarizes the need for Lighthouse Principles; “If we are to go forward, we must go back and rediscover those precious
values -- that all reality hinges on moral foundations and that all reality has
spiritual control.” In living out the Lighthouse Principles, we hope and
pray that all of us may align our lives according to the will of God who is the
author of these everlasting principles.
