NEED FOR THE PRINCIPLES

Educators need to create an environment where the students are able to point out the true lighthouses that will guide them to success in their lives. The Archdiocesan Youth Education Services (AYES) invites every Catholic Educative Institution in the Archdiocese to join hands in promoting lasting Principles.
Academic Excellence devoid of Principles is no excellence at all. Mahatma Gandhi said it so well, The Roots of Violence are Wealth without work, Pleasure without conscience, Knowledge without character, Commerce without morality, Science without humanity, Worship without sacrifice, Politics without principles” Violence takes up many forms and the above are clearly visible in our country and all over the world.
It is hoped that AYES will be able to motivate schools to become more ‘Living Value Environments’ in which Values are the content and process through which education takes place.
Martin Luther summarizes the need for Lighthouse Principles; “If we are to go forward, we must go back and rediscover those precious values -- that all reality hinges on moral foundations and that all reality has spiritual control.” In living out the Lighthouse Principles, we hope and pray that all of us may align our lives according to the will of God who is the author of these everlasting principles.

PRINCIPLES - The Pillars of a Peak Perfomer

LIGHTHOUSE PRINCIPLES
A lighthouse is a tower or building that is designed to emit light from a lamp and used as an aid to navigation for ship captains at sea. Lighthouses mark dangerous coastlines, hazardous shoals, reefs, safe entries to harbors, and can also assist in aerial navigation. Their purpose was highly regarded and many a captain paid dearly for ignoring them. However, some greedy business men used to build their own lighthouses on false shores in order to wreck the ship and ransack it. These were false lighthouses and it took the focus and wisdom of the captain to distinguish between the false lighthouses and the true ones. At other times, these greedy guys would attack the keeper of the lighthouse and switch the lamp off leading to shipwrecks. Instead of lighthouses, they would be ‘darkhouses.’
A Lighthouse

We too are captains piloting our ships in the sea of life where storms and rough seas are not uncommon. We need values built on principles that will lead us safely to the shore and avoid life wreckage. There are so many lighthouses being promoted today that are false and lead to shipwreck and frustration. We at AYES want to help the young to identify the real lighthouse principles that will shine brightly as they sail through life’s sea.
Through Jesus’ Operation Empower or Big Joe, we do hope to empower students in schools and colleges to draw out from themselves the great power that God has put into them and be makers of a difference. Contact us at Youth Secretariat at Basilica Grounds in Nairobi and book in advance to avoid disappointment.
